In approximately 25 hours, I will be boarding a plane. Big deal, right? I got on a plane three weeks ago that landed in wet Mumbai. So why can't I sleep? It is a little different this time. Different by about 4585 kilometers and 'hopping' countries as opposed to cities.
This isn't my first time flying international. I lived in Africa for over a decade; by virtue of which I should be well versed with hopping countries. But the last time I did that was 7 years ago! So it feels surreal and I thought I'd write about it except this isn't going too well either, is it? Apparently I'm as rusty at writing as I am at traveling international.
Honestly, it's kind of awkward. We're meeting after a long time and struggling to make conversation. We've been good friends, the Blog and I. Ever since the last time I traveled internationally in fact... I've poured my heart out and it has done a good job of helping me unravel the millions of thoughts in my head.
But it's been a while since we sat down and had an honest chat and now it's awkward. We aren't very good at small talk and yet it will take a while before the deeper stuff can surface.
I guess we'll just have to give it some time. Meet up more often. Not just to ooh and aah over some pictures but to really talk.
Maybe this trip to Korea where I will be immersed in a completely new place, culture, language and I meeting with a great old friend (and shooting her wedding!) and making new friends and just this completely new and different experience will be a catalyst. I certainly will have lots to share!
So here I come, Korea and till next time, Blog.
